My time writing for the “I’m First!” blog has come to an end, but I am filled with gratitude for the past two years of writing for this incredible platform. It has been an honor to serve as a voice for first-generation students and represent St. Edward’s University.

During my time here, my goal has always been to inspire and support others on their journey to and throughout college. I hope that my words have struck at least one person, and encouraged them to pursue their dreams and persevere as a first-gen student.

This experience has also been deeply personal and gratifying for me. It has allowed me to reflect on my own journey, and appreciate the challenges I have overcome and the successes I have achieved. As a senior, it’s easy to get caught up in the future and let everything fly by, but this opportunity has prompted me to intentionally look back and appreciate how far I’ve come.

I’ve cherished every moment of sharing my insights, experiences, and advice with all of you. My hope is that my words have shown that college is attainable for everyone, and highlighted the unique opportunities available at St. Edward’s University!

I wish all of the up and coming and current first-generation students the very best. Remember, you are capable, you are deserving, and you belong on this path. Keep pushing forward, and know that you have a community of supporters cheering you on every step of the way.

Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your lives. Here’s to the next chapter and to the future representatives who will continue to inspire and advocate for first-gen students!
