SUBJECT: EDExpress 2024–25 Modernization and Upcoming Training and Beta Test Opportunities

We are pleased to announce that we will release a newly modernized user interface (UI) for the EDExpress for Windows software, beginning with EDExpress 2024–2025, Release 1.0. We are excited to unveil a new look and feel for the software as well as functionality enhancements designed to improve the user experience. In addition, updates are being made to support changes required by the FAFSA Simplification Act and Future Act.

In the coming months, users will have several opportunities to learn more about the modernized EDExpress 2024–25, Release 1.0 software, prior to its December 2023 release:

  • Live Internet Webinar—In this webinar, we will demonstrate key features of the updated EDExpress UI, including new functionality to support FAFSA Simplification and to protect federal tax information (FTI). Users will have the opportunity to view the software’s new look and feel, provide feedback, and ask questions. Monitor the Knowledge Center for a Training Announcement in early September for details about the Release 1.0 webinar.
  • Release 1.0 Beta Testing—Beta test volunteers will have an opportunity to thoroughly explore the new software. If you are selected to participate, you will download an in-development version of the EDExpress software and test documentation, replicate typical usage of the software in a mock-production environment, report any problems encountered, and submit a summary report detailing test findings and software suggestions for our analysis. More information about Release 1.0 beta testing, including how to volunteer to be a participant, will be provided in an Electronic Announcement on the Knowledge Center in mid-September.
  • EDExpress Software Demonstration at the Conference—We will also offer a session on the modernized software during the 2023 Virtual Federal Student Aid Training Conference (Nov. 28–Dec. 1, 2023). Stay tuned for upcoming Electronic Announcements on the Knowledge Center that will provide detailed session and registration information.

We will share details about training and beta testing for the EDExpress 2024–25, Release 2.0 software in early 2024.
