In addition to the NSLDS postscreening for the 2023–24 and 2022–23 award years that we complete each week, we will complete a special NSLDS postscreening this week. The special postscreening will ensure correct information for students who were incorrectly flagged for unusual enrollment history during the period of July 25 – Nov. 18, 2022. Student records impacted by this issue may incorrectly contain one of the following:

  • Unusual Enrollment History Flag “2” – Possible enrollment pattern problem, school may need to resolve

  • Unusual Enrollment History Flag “3” – Questionable enrollment pattern, school must resolve

To ensure impacted records for the 2023–24 award year (24,755 records) and 2022–23 award year (110,511 records) contain the most current information related to unusual enrollment history, we will process and send updated Institutional Student Information Records (ISIRs) transactions to affected schools by Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2022. These postscreened ISIRs will contain NSLDS Postscreening Reason Code 99.

Schools should disregard unusual enrollment history flags received prior to this week’s special NSLDS postscreening. Beginning with receipt of this week’s postscreened ISIRs and going forward, schools must take action on unusual enrollment history flags per the SAR Comment Codes and Text reference guide for the applicable award year.
