From 1998 to 2003, Floyd served the university before going on to lead the University of Missouri and Washington State University. An encounter with Dr. Linda Darling-Hammond, the renowned educationresearcher at Stanford University, led to Vasquez Heilig being hired as her researcher while completing his Ph.D.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in economics from the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey, Campus Estado de Mexico, in 1998, and his doctorate in economics from Texas A&M University in 2003. His work has appeared in The New York Times and USA Today, among other publications.
