After AT&T and Southern Bell merged, HISPA leadership decided to keep the group intact and in 2007 voted to become the independent nonprofit organization it is today. This past year, over 500 school sessions were scheduled across about 30 schools in New Jersey and other cities, says Fred Cline, HISPA operations director.
