Outreach efforts include education on financial aid options, including grants, scholarships and aid for undocumented students. Latinx participation in the Metro College Success Program learning community increased by 25% between 2019 and 2024. The number of bachelor’s degrees awarded to Latinx students has grown.

Sophia Rahming As a result of her work, class withdrawals and the number of students failing and having to repeat courses — particularly in STEM-related courses — have dramatically declined since she took the helm of the program in 2019. For her part, Rahming, a native of The Bahamas, has not abandoned her scholarship.
