Jackson, a member of Delta Sigma Theta, had a sorority sister drive her to the airport following a visit to Philadelphia and the University of Pennsylvania. During graduate school, she attended a summer program at the University of Colorado Boulder where she met a distinguished theoretical physicist from Bell Labs.
