Civitas Learning’s Texas Leadership Workshop recently brought together leaders from ten different institutions across Texas and beyond to discuss student success strategies for higher education. However, student feedback revealed redundancy in conversations and information sharing between advisors and coaches.
Barriers such as siloed systems or entrenched processes from previous leadership can limit visibility into student behavior and performance—key factors for driving successful outcomes. The ability to identify when and where there is a decrease in persistence within the curriculum helps academic leaders customize interventions.
Some of the topics include literacy and math, advising Black male engineering majors, socio-emotional development, leadership, community college experiences, Black male veterans, athletes in P-12 and higher education, and the recruitment and retention of Black males in educator preparation programs.
