Conway-Turner, who will retire at the end of this academic year after nine years as president of Buffalo State, has had a stellar 43-year career as a faculty member and administrator. In addition, her administration has advanced civic engagement across campus with co-curricular activities and service learning.

She set the tone of her administration with a statewide listening tour to frame her presidential priorities of promoting campus safety, supporting student veterans, and advancing UNM’s mission as an R1 university. Stokes became the 23rd president of The University of New Mexico (UNM) on May 12, 2018, the first woman to hold that office.
