The CSUEB Pathfinders Institute is dedicated to enhancing culturally relevant professional development through an intensive two-week program for faculty teaching critical first-year courses. CSUSM’s inclusive hiring practices have increased Latino representation among faculty, administrators and staff.
A lot can stand in the way of a students decision to enroll for the next termfrom a required course not being offered to scheduling conflicts with work. Advisors, faculty, and staff need a holistic view of a students experienceacademic progress, goals, challenges, and engagementso they can intervene early and offer proactive support.
Higher education leaders strive to create a course schedule that is both efficient to build and easy for students to enroll in necessary courses. Despite this intention, course schedule planning is often a reactive process that can lead to increased workloads for staff and frustration for students during active registration periods.

Each year, this award is presented to one undergraduate faculty advisor, one undergraduate staff advisor, and graduate advisor. Advisors are nominated by students, faculty, and staff.
