If asking for help feels uncomfortable, know that every student feels that way. Five years later, I’m hard pressed to find words that offer better advice to this year’s seniors.

Gerardo de los Santos said his father mentored numerous individuals and pushed them to get their doctorates. Very few students who were in remedial courses made it to a freshman or sophomore course. This included not overloading students with courses when they also had jobs and family obligations.
