This eventually led to applying for and receiving a grant to develop programming for LGBTQ+ students at Guttman. Guttman recently institutionalized its Lavender Graduation, a pre-graduation ceremony for LGBTQ students which the president, provost, and members of the faculty attend. This academic year, 575 students are being supported.

Over the last year, we’ve been exploring the educational experiences of Black and Hispanic PhDs in STEM, and find that of the 184,000 PhDs in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields awarded to individuals between 2010-2020, just 3.8 universities with the highest research activity.
