Becoming a mentor has always appealed to me. To me, being a mentor meant I had my life together. When browsing online, I saw an opportunity with Close the Gap to be a mentor, and it seemed to be a great way to give back! After applying and being accepted, it made me ponder what it meant to be a mentor.

Show empathy and understanding, even if you disagree with their viewpoint. People in denial seldom see that reality so maybe ask a mentor or a close friend if they see you in the river of denial. Denial is a big deal and it stunts people’s opportunity for success. Dealing with people in denial can be challenging.
