Faculty play a central role in building connections with students. As Inside Higher Ed notes, “Students often turn to their faculty members for advice and support outside of academics, including career advice and mental health support, so positive student-faculty relationships are a critical piece of student success.”
Advisors, faculty, and staff need a holistic view of a students experienceacademic progress, goals, challenges, and engagementso they can intervene early and offer proactive support. Communication and integrated workflows also play a critical role. Faculty need simple ways to flag concerns and coordinate with advisors in real time.

The Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning will be hosting several Brightspace trainings throughout the remainder of the Fall 2023 semester and the entirety of the Spring 2024 semester. Missouri State is transitioning to a new learning management system (LMS), D2L Brightspace, which will replace the current LMS, Blackboard.
